About the 2025 SPPS Referendum
On November 4, St. Paul residents will vote on whether to approve a new school funding request for Saint Paul Public Schools. If passed, this funding will help protect our academically challenging and engaging programs so every student can access the opportunities they deserve. Without this funding, SPPS will need to make at least $37 million in budget reductions for the 2026-27 school year, with more cuts in future years, to maintain a balanced budget.
SPPS Funding Goals for the 2025 Operating Levy
- Provide financial stability for SPPS students and avoid millions of dollars in budget cuts.
- Maintain a broad range of academic programs such as arts and music, language and culture, and college and career readiness.
- Preserve services that families and students value, such as transportation, extracurriculars, and additional academic supports.
- Retain high-quality teachers and support staff to ensure student success.
