    UPDATE:

    Friday, February 12, 2021

    Dear Ramsey Families:

Thank you for your support as we continue the school year in distance learning. We are excited to be starting in-person academic support at our school on Monday, February 22.

Prior to students arriving on Monday, February 22, our Ramsey teachers will be teaching students the expectations for On-Site Support.  Please look for the presentation that we will be using with students in the Ramsey Weekly Update.

Here are a few important details about what to expect when in-person support begins:

    Schedule

On-site support at Ramsey will be Monday - Thursdays. Students will come to school on their assigned day from 8:30- 11:00 a.m. Students will have breakfast and then get academic support in their Foundations class with 5-8 other students and learn collaboratively with this small group of peers. Students will be in their Foundations class for the 2.5 hours and have access to staff as resources as needed. As students are dismissed, they will also be able to grab a lunch to go!  Synchronous classes will be offered afternoons Monday - Thursdays, following a similar schedule to Semester 1, but shortened. You may access this schedule on our website spps.org/ramsey or request this from your student’s foundation’s teacher.

    Attendance

In-person support is optional and does not affect attendance. All students will remain in distance learning as their primary learning model. In-person time will be used to support distance learning, not to teach new material.

    Transportation

Students at 6-8 schools will receive a postcard in the mail with bus information before February 22. If you do not receive your postcard, check your Campus account or email transportation@spps.org

    Building Access for Families

Students must be dropped off outside school entrances. Students cannot be escorted by family members to their classrooms or anywhere else inside the building. In addition, families will not be allowed to have lunch, observe a class, volunteer, or engage in any other activities in school buildings.

    COVID-19 Student and Family Guidelines

Families returning to school should familiarize themselves with these guidelines, which are updated regularly and cover prevention strategies, health screening and monitoring, exclusion guidance, and the SPPS COVID-19 Reporting System.

    Health Screening

Families should conduct a health screening every morning before sending their student to school or the bus stop. School staff will also monitor for symptoms throughout the school day. If your child is exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, do not send them to school. Report the absence to your child’s school and submit a report to the COVID-19 Reporting System the same day for next steps.

    Face Coverings

K-12 students, staff and visitors are required to wear a face covering unless medically exempt. Everyone should provide their own face coverings whenever possible. However, masks will be available at school and on the bus for anyone who needs them.

    Sick Students

Students who become sick during the school day will be isolated (under supervision) until they can be picked up. It is important that sick students are picked up as soon as possible to limit the risk to other students and staff. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in Campus.

    Meal Service

Free meals will be provided to all students during in-person support. Meal boxes will still be available for pickup at schools across Saint Paul. Home delivery is available for students who are medically fragile or cannot leave their home to pick up meals.

Staff and students will be adhering to the guidelines of masks, social distancing and handwashing to ensure their safety while participating in on-site support. Please feel free to contact me at 651-276-0038 or email me at teresa.vibar@spps.org with any questions you have.

    UPDATE:

    Tuesday, January 26, 2021

    Dear Ramsey Middle School Family,

Thank you for your support as we continue the school year in distance learning. I am writing to you today with more details about the in-person support that will be offered at Ramsey Middle School.

As we prepare to add this support, there will be no instruction January 29-February 3. Distance learning will resume on Thursday, February 4. It’s important to keep in mind that distance learning will remain the primary learning model for all students at this time. This new program is a way to offer some in-person connection with teachers and peers for those students who want/need it. There will be no new instruction during this in-person time.

Students will come to Ramsey on their assigned day starting 9-10 days after the COVID-19 case rate for Ramsey County remains under 30 for two consecutive weeks. At this time, the earliest possible start date is Tuesday, February 16.

    At Ramsey:

    • All students will be able to come to school one day per week (Monday-Thursday) from 8:30-11 a.m.

    • Students will need to bring their iPads fully charged to on-site support.

    • There will be approximately 5-7 students, or 25 percent of enrollment, per classroom.

    • Students will receive breakfast and bagged lunches, and bus transportation will be provided.

    • Students will receive support from their Foundations Teacher to complete coursework assigned in Schoology.

    • Students will properly wear face coverings at all times while on-site, except when actively eating breakfast.

    • Fridays will be distance learning days.

    • Student schedule linked HERE.

    • If you do not want your child to be considered for on-site support, please let us know by filling out this form by January 29. Filling this out does enroll your child in the Virtual Learning School.

    • Students enrolling in VLS will keep their Ramsey teachers.
