Board Director Zuki Ellis Receives Marny Xiong Legacy Award
SPPS Board of Education Director Zuki Ellis was recognized at the annual Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) conference with the Marny Xiong Legacy Award. The award aims to highlight school board directors who have spent years making a lasting impact on the lives of children, teachers and administrators, and have been a fierce advocate for marginalized communities.

Hands-On Climate Science in Saint Paul Public Schools
From mid-October through mid-November, over 900 students across SPPS planted red emperor tulip bulbs at 23 schools that will bloom next April. This project is part of a large-scale community science program called Journey North’s Tulip Test Gardens. Students plant the same species of tulips all over North America and then compare when their tulips emerge and bloom.

Como Student Awarded JROTC Legion of Valor Bronze Cross
Alex Le is being inducted into an elite club. The Junior Reserved Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadet will receive the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross award. A senior at Como Park High School, Le is one of six recipients out of more than 5,000 nominated nationally. The award is presented to cadets who excel academically and have demonstrated excellence in civic affairs.
