Athletic Vaccinations | August 12, 2021

Dear student athletes,

I hope you are having a fun, safe and active summer! As we get closer to the new school year and start of the fall sports season, we want to encourage all student athletes to get vaccinated against COVID-19 if you have not done so already. The vaccine is the best protection we have available against this virus for both ourselves and for the health of others.

A high vaccination rate among our teammates and coaches will allow us to have a more normal and less interrupted sports season than last year. If you have completed the COVID-19 vaccination (two doses in a two-dose series or one dose in a one-dose series) and are exposed, you will not need to quarantine if:

  • The COVID-19 exposure was at least 14 days after your vaccination series was fully completed
  • You do not have any symptoms of COVID-19

Three SPPS schools are hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinics that are open to students and their family members, as well as anyone in the community who needs a vaccine:

  • Gordon Parks High School (1212 University Ave W)
  • Harding Senior High School (1540 6th St E)
  • Washington Technology Magnet (1495 Rice St)

Children 17 years old and younger must receive permission from a parent or guardian, either in person or online when scheduling an appointment.

For more information, please visit spps.org/covidvaccine. Walk-ins are accepted at all locations.

Thank you.
