SPPS students, staff and community members turned out to celebrate the start of construction on the Midway Peace Park near Gordon Parks High School. The idea for the park began more than five years ago when Gordon Parks students recognized the need for green space in their neighborhood. Working with the City of Saint Paul and The Trust for Public Land, students gathered community input and helped in the park's design. When completed next spring, the park will benefit the high school, local businesses and more than 800 low-income, new immigrant residents from Skyline Tower. The park is part of the Cities' long-term vision to create vibrant outdoor gathering spaces that strengthen community connections along the Green Line.
