SPPS Student Receives Legion of Valor Bronze Cross Award

Como Park Senior High School student William Farley was recently inducted into an elite club. The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) cadet received the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross award during a school assembly attended by his family, school staff and fellow cadets. JROTC awards the Bronze Cross to cadets who excel academically and have demonstrated excellence in civic affairs. Farley was one of six cadets chosen for the award out of more than 5,000 nominated nationally.

The JROTC program in five SPPS high schools helps students academically while instilling core values of integrity, service before self, wellness and excellence in all they do. While military personnel teaches the curriculum, the vast majority of JROTC students do not enter the military. Students use the skills they learn to help them succeed in high school, college, career and life.
