SPPS Affirms Student Gender in Names and Pronouns in Digital Learning Spaces

Saint Paul Public Schools affirms the gender and identity of all of our students and is commited to establishing school environments where transgender and gender non-conforming students may thrive.

The Saint Paul Public Schools Gender Inclusion Policy applies to in person and online learning spaces. All students have the right to have their gender affirmed in SPPS around their name, pronoun, learning spaces, extracurricular opportunities, and in facilities.

This includes in learning tools like Schoology, Seesaw, Google Suite, and any other district managed technology applications.

School counselors are available to support students in navigating having their information updated. Out for Equity is available to assist students, families, and staff around school social gender transitions.

The Name and/ or Gender Change Request Form provides the most cohesive update to all Saint Paul Public Schools systems. The form must be signed by the parent or guardian and submitted to the school. The form is entered by the Student Placement Services Office and may be submitted there directly.

Every students' gender must also be affirmed in the absence of a Name and/or Gender Change Request Form. Please speak to the school counselor or staff from Out for Equity for more information and support.
