This fall, families may indicate their student's "nickname" during the iUpdate process. The nickname will then be used as a display name in all learning spaces, online and in our buildings. 

Student's may notice the biggest change in personalized learning spaces like Google Meet and Schoology as the nickname in student's records will be used as a student's display name beginning in the fall of 2021.

This process will not change a student's legal name. Student's legal name as well as their gender in SPPS may be updated to affirm gender by submitting a Name and Gender Change Request Form to the student placement office or the school clerk in alignment to the SPPS Gender Inclusion Policy. The Placement Center may also assist with legal name changes due to other reasons.
