SPPS Counselors Advocate for Mental Health Supports at Day on the Hill
On Thursday, February 9, SPPS School Counselors joined with other counselors across the state for Day on the Hill. They used this time to speak with representatives and advocate for upcoming legislation that would increase funding for student support services staff - increasing access for students getting help in critical areas of social emotional, mental health and academic supports. House File 8 and Senate File 56 would invest $200 million into funding school counselors, school nurses, school psychologies and school social workers, as well as attracting new people into the profession. This would fund 2,500 student support personnel across the state.
