SPPS Staff May Be Eligible for Frontline Worker Pay

The State of Minnesota is providing bonus pay for eligible COVID-19 frontline workers, which may include SPPS employees who meet the program’s criteria. 
 
The application period is open from June 8 to July 22, 2022. Eligible staff can fill out an application at frontlinepay.mn.gov. You can apply at any time during the 45-day application period—funds are not allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The money set aside for this program will be split equally among all approved applicants.
 
Who Is Eligible?
To be eligible for Frontline Worker Pay, the applicant:
  • Must have been employed at least 120 hours in Minnesota in one or more frontline sectors between March 15, 2020, and June 30, 2021.
  • For hours worked during that time period, the applicant was not able to telework due to the nature of their work and worked in close proximity to people outside their household.
  • Must meet income requirements for at least one of the 2020 or 2021 tax years.
  • Did not collect more than 20 total weeks of unemployment benefits between March 15, 2020, and June 26, 2021.
The State of Minnesota determines eligibility. Review these information sheets to see more details on work requirements and eligible job sectors. Eligibility criteria for Frontline Worker Pay are set forth in the Frontline Worker Pay law. If you are unsure if you are eligible, you should review the law and guidance and truthfully fill in and submit the application during the 45-day application period.

Applicants should be prepared to certify that they meet all eligibility requirements. Review this application fact sheet to see what information you will need to provide.

  • Dates of relevant employment and job title: Log in to PeopleSoft and go to Main Menu->Self Service->Payroll and Compensation->Employment Verification Report. Start dates and titles are listed under “Identification” on the report.
  • Note: Staff will not have access to PeopleSoft between June 17-20 while the system is being updated.
Payments
After processing and verification of the applications, as well as a 15-day period for denied applicants to contest those decisions, the final list of eligible applicants will be determined by the State of Minnesota. Each eligible applicant will be provided with equal payment. All applications will move through the process at the same time and payments will be forwarded for processing together. Please note that Frontline Worker Pay is issued by the State of Minnesota. It is not issued by the SPPS payroll department, nor does SPPS payroll have any influence in the determination of eligibility.
