CHALLENGES WITH BUS TRANSPORTATION

CHALLENGES WITH BUS TRANSPORTATION

Thank you for your patience as we have worked through an exciting, but challenging first few days of school. We have experienced great joy as all of our students, educators and staff reunited to begin full-time in-person learning for the first time in many months. I am grateful for the support of our families and the passion our teachers and staff have for all our students. I loved the enthusiasm and excitement of the children.

We have also had some disruptions, specifically in our transportation systems. I know of several buses that did not complete their scheduled route and for that and other delays I am sincerely sorry. Although the lack of school bus drivers is out of our control, we know how stressful this is for you and your child. I can assure you we are working hard to resolve the issues we saw and are focusing our efforts on improving bus availability, timelines, and communication.

Our clerk, Judy Browne, stayed until 6:00pm the first night to make sure the students made it home. She worked hard to communicate and coordinate between the families, the SPPS Transportation department, and SPPS Emergency Management.

On behalf of all of us at Horace Mann School, thank you for your support and understanding. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact me at 651-293-8965.
