Child Development Literacy

Course Description:

This class is designed to introduce you to the field of child care. You will learn about the different early childhood settings: schools, family, and centers. You learn how to interact with children 0-5 years old and their parents. You will build and implement hands-on activities during the class time.


  • CASAS Reading test score of 197-229 (High ELL 2 through ELL 5)
  • The Reading test is administered at registration

Upon completion of this course students (if eligible) have the options to move into the next level of Hubbs classes.

At Reading level 5.0 or higher, students could be eligible for the Child Development Bridge class. This class focuses on the core compentencies of child development. college readiness, computer and communication skills. The end goal is to have students enroll into the Child Development Certificate at Saint Paul College. A 16 credit certificate program.
