PreK-4 (Lower Campus) Distance Learning Family Update Week of May 26-29, 2020

Principal Message from Mr. B.

Greetings Families!

Thank you to all the families who participated in our Student Material Pickup last week.  It was so great to see so many families during the pickup and glad that you were able to get your materials.  If you were not able to get your materials, we will work on scheduling another date and time in the Fall for you to pick up your child’s materials.

I saw a post last week from Glennon Doyle.  She is an author, activist, and motivational speaker.  I listened to a story that she told recently about her sister in law who is a teacher.  She talked about how her sister in law is “trying to reinvent her entire craft of teaching and is helping her beloved students reinvent their lives.”

I thought of our teachers as well as our parents/guardians (YOU) and the work that we are all doing right now!  There are so many varying emotions and feelings that we are all feeling right now because of the pandemic like being stressed, exhausted, overwhelmed, and yet we all still show up day after day for our kids.

Glennon Doyle’s friend left the following  rock on her doorstep last week:

In her post, she said, “the next time you are tempted to not show up out of fear of making a “mistake,” think of how much less magical and PERFECT this rock would be if all the “right” letters were there.  Let us remember, especially in these times, that:

  • The magic is in the mess.
  • The humanity is in the glitches
  • The message is in the missing letters.”

As we know, these are hard times.  And every single one of us who is showing up, still trying in big and small ways to serve and support each other, shows us that we can do hard thigs.”

Have a great week and remember……”we can do hard thigs” because we are!

Farnsworth PreK-4 Meal Service

We will continue weekly home meal delivery to SPPS families who are in need of food for their children.

For families that qualify for free or reduced lunch: You will automatically receive your first delivery and can confirm with the delivery driver if you would like to continue receiving meals through home delivery. You can also confirm online here. Students who are enrolled in a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program will also receive their first delivery automatically.

Student iPads

I want to remind all of our families that ALL students will keep their iPads throughout the summer.  Superintendent Gothard would like ALL students to have the opportunity to access resources online throughout the summer.  We will not be collecting any devices until we return to school.

End of the School Year

The current school year will end as planned on Tuesday, June 9th.
