Information about Leadership Change Process at Como Park Senior High School

Dear Como Park Senior High School Community,

We recently learned that Principal Stacy Theien-Collins will be transitioning into another position outside of Saint Paul Public Schools. I want to thank her for her investment and dedication to our students and families in Saint Paul and wish her all the best in the future.

As members of our school community, I want to make sure you are informed and involved as we move forward in selecting the next principal of Como Park Senior High School.

We began accepting applications in January for candidates interested in becoming a principal in our district. Applicants were required to submit a resume, letter of intent and complete two different leadership essays describing their experience in positively impacting school culture and  implementing initiatives that resulted in student achievement gains.

After submitting their applications, candidates participated in eligibility pool interviews in which they had an opportunity to interact with current SPPS principals, department leaders and Human Resources staff.

In addition to this pool of applicants, we have posted this principal vacancy on our Saint Paul Public Schools Human Resource page for any external candidate that may be interested in this opportunity. The posting will remain active until the position is filled. We are committed to finding and hiring the best leader possible for Como Park Senior High School.

In mid-June we will conduct school-level interviews with a small team, including two parents, two staff members, a student from Como Park Senior High School, along with myself and a member of our Human Resources staff.

Principal Theien-Collins will work with your school community to select the parent/community, staff and student representatives and two site-specific questions to be included in the interview. Our goal is to be able to announce the new leader to our staff and community by the end of June.

Finally, once the new leader of Como Park Senior High School is selected, we will share a simple survey with families and staff. This online survey will serve as a great opportunity for the school community to share what you believe the most important priorities are for your new leader and identify what you are most proud of about your school.

Thank you for supporting Como Park Senior High School.

Sincerely,

Andrew Collins
Assistant Superintendent
