Updated: Important Information about March 21 Incident at Como Park Senior High
Dear Como Park Senior High Families,
I am writing to let you know about a serious situation that happened at the start of the school day.
I’m sorry to share with you that a student was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. There were no threats made to students or staff.
Staff responded immediately by following safety procedures and confiscated the weapon without incident. The Saint Paul Police Department also responded, and took the student into custody. Police are conducting an investigation.
We will not tolerate any behavior that puts our school at risk. There are consequences for students in situations like this and we will follow our standard discipline procedures as outlined in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.
Schools are safe places to be and we strive to do everything it takes to make sure it stays that way. We also need your help. Maintaining a safe school environment is always a top priority and students are a key part of that. Please assure your child that it is important for them to report any concerns they have about school to a trusted adult.
In response to today’s incident, our school counselors and social workers will be available to meet with students and families needing additional support. Our support staff will be available in the library tomorrow (Thursday, March 22) beginning at 7:30 a.m.

The School Resource Officer immediately responded. The weapon was confiscated without incident. No threats were made to students or staff.
Saint Paul Police are investigating the incident. Police have said there are no active threats at the school.
