Communication to Families 3/15/2020

Dayton’s Bluff Achievement Plus Community,

As you have probably heard by now, all schools in Minnesota will be closed starting Wednesday, March 18th. St. Paul Public Schools Superintendent Gothard has decided and communicated that St. Paul Public School students will NOT report to school on Monday, March 16th or Tuesday March 17th. Staff will report to work on Monday be utilizing the time from March 16th – March 27th to prepare materials to transition to an online learning format.

Starting immediately today, Dayton’s Bluff staff are already diving in on how to organize around distance learning so that all students not only get the content they need but the supports they need as well. They are working to prepare iPads, and other materials to send home with students, beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th.

Dayton’s Bluff will be open tomorrow, March 17th, from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for families to pick up iPads and connect with teachers around distance learning.

When we enter into a new learning curve (particularly in regards to something we haven’t experienced before), we have to be adaptive and alert to information coming out. We are not going to have all the answers to every scenario that might arise. We ask for your patience.

Finally, I ask that you start looking at how you provide structure and schedules for your children at home as we roll out online learning so that the transition is easier for you and your children. While we, as a staff, organize at Dayton’s Bluff, please try to build in to your day, starting as soon as possible, time for reading, writing and math.

The Dayton’s Bluff school community is here for all our families throughout this difficult time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out as questions come up. My cell phone number is 612-358-4187. Assistant Principal, Elizabeth Diemer’s cell phone number is 612-741-7513. You can also call the main office at 651-293-8915. Please be prepared for additional communications throughout the week.

Sincerely,

Amanda Musachio
