Hamline Elementary School Announces New Principal

Dear Hamline Elementary Families and Staff,

I am pleased to share with you that I’ve selected a new leader for Hamline Elementary that many of you already know. Please join me in welcoming Kristin Reilly as your school’s new principal beginning in the 2018-19 school year.

Ms. Reilly has worked for Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) for 26 years, most recently as your assistant principal. She brings a wealth of experience and a strong belief that when given the opportunity, every child can reach their full potential. She has served SPPS as a classroom teacher, special education teacher and as a behavior support specialist. Ms. Reilly looks forward to enhancing the school’s collaboration with Hamline University – a partnership that gets stronger every year.

Hamline Elementary will have new opportunities to reinvent its current spaces when Jie Ming moves to its new building over the summer. Ms. Reilly is excited about expanding the family resource room, a new science makerspace, and a sensory room that supports students who have experienced trauma.

Ms. Reilly has excellent academic qualifications. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from St. Catherine University and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of St. Thomas.

Ms. Reilly’s relationships with Hamline students, staff and families will allow for an easy transition and a strong start to the new school year. To help, please take a moment to complete a short survey (http://bit.ly/2jU6fWw). This survey is an opportunity for staff, students and families to help their new principal understand the values and priorities of your school community.

You will have an opportunity to meet your new principal at a school event to be scheduled before school starts in the fall. If you have any questions, please contact me at 651-767-8152.

Thank you for supporting your child and Hamline Elementary.

Sincerely,

Joe Gothard
Superintendent
