Transportation Changes for SPPS High Schools

Dear Harding community,

We are looking forward to the start of the school year next week. A reminder that the first day of school is Thursday, September 9.

Due to the nationwide school bus driver shortage, high school students at Harding Senior High School will be provided a Metro Transit GoTo card at no cost to get to and from school instead of a yellow school bus. Please note: all students in special education who qualify for special transportation per their IEP will continue to receive it.

After extensive efforts to find more drivers, identify alternate transportation options and adjust school schedules, we are unfortunately unable to offer school bus transportation until further notice. We anticipate this to be the case for at least the first semester.

We apologize for this last-minute change of plans so close to the beginning of the school year. We have done everything we can to avoid this, and hope that this is a short-term solution while we continue to deal with the driver shortage. Students who do not want to take the bus can be dropped off, walk, bike or arrange with the school for student parking options.

Thank you for your understanding.  More information about bus cards, routes and bus stops will be coming before the first day of school. If you have questions or need interpretation services, please call our main office at 651-793-4700 for assistance.

Sincerely,
Be Vang, Principal
