HPSH Math Team

There’s no shortage of talent walking through the halls of Highland Park Senior High and this is evident when you walk by the math classrooms and see all the math team plaques hanging on the walls. One and a half hallways have a line stretching with conference championships and various State tournament appearance plaques. In particular, the plaques with the Scots state tournament performances seem unending, as the streak has now hit 22 years in a row. The team hopes to match last year’s 7th place finish at State since 6 of the 8 starters returned. Junior Roland B. says “we’d like to hit 100 points at the meet since we put up 97 points last year. If each starter can contribute 10 points and we get 20 on the team event then we’ll do it!”   Senior Tessa N. has a different take on the meet: “I love the math and am excited about competing but I’m not going to lie that I’m looking forward to spending time with my teammates afterwards!” The state competition is scheduled for March 13th, the day before “Pi Day”
