ACCESS Testing

Hello Highwood Families!

The ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 testing for in-person students will begin March 1st. The testing will be done daily with a final testing date anticipated for March 12th.

VLS Students can take the test on the following date and time. The test can take up to 3 hours to complete but it is not a timed test so we cannot be sure when they will finish.

March 19th

Kindergarten:  9:15

1st grade:        8:05

2nd grade:       8:05

3rd Grade        9:30

4th grade:        9:30

5th grade:        8:15

If the student needs transportation than we can arrange for them to be picked up at a bus stop on a regular Highwood school bus. They would get to school in the morning and then the bus would drop them off at the bus stop at the end of the school day.

We would figure out meals and a schedule for them on this day. Otherwise, the parent can drop off and pick up the student if they would like to.

The ACCESS test happens every year. It is not mandatory that they take the test. They can opt out this year due to COVID. It is a test that helps determine what level English learner the student is. They will continue to receive ELL services and it won't change anything if they choose not to take the test.
