EDL (Extended Day Learning)

EDL is an afterschool program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00-4:40.   Contact geoff.freeman@spps.org with questions.

 

EDL is a great opportunity to explore new and exciting interests that may not be offered during the school day.  

Transportation and snack are provided. - Dates: Tuesdays and Thursday October 9 - May 9, 3:00-4:40 PM

EDL Course Catalog 2018-2019

Select a first, second and third choice from the options below. We cannot guarantee that you will get your first choice.

STEAM - Students will explore reading, math and science with an emphasis on “STEAM” curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) with teacher Linda Freeman. Grades K-3

Creative Writing - For students who want to explore creative writing, poetry and graphic novels with teacher Jenny Murray. Grades 3-5

Coding and Chess - Students will explore computer coding and technology. Grades 3-5

Multimedia - Newspaper/Yearbook - Students will explore various media mediums.  They will be a part of planning, creating and distributing a school newsletter and yearbook. Grades 3-5  We are still in the hiring process for this position. If you are interested, email geoff.freeman@spps.org

Band - Students will learn and practice a band instrument and participate in a spring concert. Band students must also choose classes from the list above for periods when other instrumental groups receive focused instruction (for example, flutes are getting flute lessons), with Band Leader Solomon Parham. Grades 4-5

Apr. 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30

May 2, 7, 9

 

  • EDL is not held the weeks of parent and teacher conferences (Nov 13 & 15 Mar 19 & 21)
  • EDL is for students in grades K-5.  It is not available for Pre-K students.
  • Transportation and a snack are provided.
  • E1 and E2 students may still register! Registration forms are on our school website.  Paper copies are available in the office.
