Your Story, Our Story: Student Immigration Experience This exhibition features original artworks by LEAP High School students, created as part of Your Story, Our Story, a partnership program with the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) and the Tenement Museum in New York City. The national project invites individuals to share their personal stories of American immigration and migration through objects. LEAP students visited MIA to discover the many ways in which objects, including artworks, can tell stories. Guided by teachers Jill Michell and Anne Lowe, the students shared their own stories of immigration through art-making and writing. Their contributions are displayed online and here. The Center for Equity and Culture provided additional objects. To explore these stories, or to upload the story of an object that carries meaning in your family, visit the online digital storytelling exhibition:
There will be an opening reception on Tuesday, May 22, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Center for Equity and Culture, Washington Technology Magnet, 1495 Rice Street in St. Paul. The exhibit runs May 22-June 1.
