Obama Elementary Announces New Principal

Dear Obama Elementary Families and Staff,

I am pleased to share with you that I’ve selected a new leader for Obama Elementary. Please join me in welcoming your new principal, Niceta Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas has worked for Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) for 16 years, most recently as special education supervisor. She brings a wealth of experience and a strong belief that it takes a whole community to educate our children. She has served SPPS as a fifth grade teacher, special education teacher, school administrator and various leadership roles to help students and fellow staff in their learning and growth.

Mrs. Thomas is excited to return to the school where she began her teaching career in SPPS. She looks forward to continuing the great work at Obama Elementary and strengthening its community partnerships, academics and student leadership.

Mrs. Thomas has excellent academic qualifications. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of St. Thomas.

Principal Adrain Pendelton and Mrs. Thomas will work together to ensure a smooth transition and a strong start to the new school year. To help, please take a moment to complete a short survey. This survey is an opportunity for staff, students and families to help their new principal understand the values and priorities of your school community.

You will have an opportunity to meet your new principal at a school event to be scheduled before school starts in the fall. If you have any questions, please contact me at 651-767-8152.

Thank you for supporting your child and Obama Elementary.

Sincerely,

Joe Gothard
Superintendent
