Changes for the 2022-23 School Year

In fall 2021, SPPS leadership presented Envision SPPS to the Board of Education. The presentation included recommendations to relocate, merge or close some schools and programs with the goal of providing well-rounded education programs and ensuring all SPPS students have access to high-quality learning opportunities regardless of which school they attend. On December 1, 2021, the Board of Education voted to approve Envision SPPS with some changes to the original recommendations.

The following changes will take place at the end of school year 2021-22:

  • Riverview West Side School of Excellence’s community school program will close at the end of the year. Students attending Riverview’s community program will relocate to Cherokee Heights Elementary.
  • Riverview’s Spanish Dual Immersion program will continue at Riverview.

Below provides an overview of the school options available to students in Riverview’s Community program. This does not apply to students that are currently in the immersion program.
