What is happening for Next Year with Staff, the Budget, and School Plans? You can click here for a document explaining what happens next year for the school. The news is good, in largest part because of your support of the referendum!

The school district has also provided a few resources if you’d like to know more about how funding works for the entire district. If you want to learn more about where district funds come from and how they are spent, you can click here for a 3-minute video called Budgeting 101. You can watch another 3-minute video to learn how funds from a variety of sources help schools create their budget each year. Finally, there is document that answers frequently asked questions.

The school district will provide opportunities for the community to speak about budgets later in April or May. Look for more information coming soon.

Intent to Return and Class Placement We are requesting that all families click on and complete an Intent to Return Form. The information is very important in planning for next year. Please click here to go to the form. This form is due by Friday, April 26, 2019. Thank you in advance!

Questions 1-6 complete the intent to return. Questions 7-9 are optional, but will provide input into class placement.

The teachers and I will work together to create the 2019-2020 classes. The teachers worked very hard this year with you and your child. They have a deep and broad understanding of each child's unique needs and strengths, learning style, academic levels in all subjects, peer relationships, leadership qualities, behavioral strengths and needs, family communication style, and family ability to support the classroom. We will also use our past experiences, knowledge of child development, and understanding of educational fundamentals to develop class placements.

Our top priority is to create balanced classrooms where every child has an optimal environment for success. We provide this opportunity for families to share any additional information with the teaching staff that will assist in the placement process.

IMPORTANT: Forms that include request for specific teachers will NOT be considered and will be deleted. Class lists for the 2019-2020 school year will be available through Campus in early August and posted on the front windows August 23, 2019.

Please Give Feedback on PTA Business Partnerships Can you spare a couple minutes to provide some feedback to the Horace Mann PTA Business Partnership Committee about things like Davanni's Night and Give to the Max Day? It takes 2-3 minutes tops! Go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T8PHJYY.

Our BP Committee only meets once a year. It is a great committee on which to volunteer if you want to help, but don't have a lot of time to meet. Thank you!

skate

Roller-skating Returns! Groovy! During Phy. Ed. classes, students in Grades 1-5 will be roller-skating in the gym from April 22-May 3. Permission slips will be sent home after Spring Break and are attached here. They will need to be signed and returned, along with the $6 fee, to the homeroom teachers by April 23. If you need assistance with the fee, please contact Mr. Castillo. Without a signed slip, students will not be permitted to skate.

It is important to note that if students have their own helmets (bicycle, skiing, batting helmet), they are strongly encouraged to bring them when they skate. There will be a very limited amount of helmets sent with the roller-skates for students to use. If students have their own helmets, it will likely fit them better than what will be provided. Helmets are required to be worn while skating. Wrist guards which will be provided.

Any questions, contact Mr. Castillo.
