Office Paper Needed

Thank you to everyone who donated office paper! We have had reams of paper arriving daily. If your family is able and hasn't done so, we are still accepting reams of copy paper. Feel free to send it in your child's backpack or bring it to conferences in a few weeks. Thank you again!

Time to Sign Up for Spring Conferences

Spring conferences will take place on Wednesday, March 18 from 3-7pm; Thursday, March 19 from 3-7pm; and Friday, March 20 from 8-11am. Please click the link below to sign up for each child's conference.

Principal Litwin will be out of the country during conferences. If you'd like to arrange a time to meet, he is available on Friday, March 6. There is no school that day as teachers prepare for confernences. He is also available in the weeks following conferences. Email to schedule an appointment if needed.

Silent Auction Approaches Quickly
March 20, 2020 we are Roaring into the 2020s at the Silent & Live Auction! We want to see each and every one of you there for a night of festivity, fellowship and fundraising!

How do I RSVP?  I think I lost my envelope.
Bring your payment of $25 per ticket to the office together with an RSVP card or note stating the names of the attendees. You can also buy your raffle tickets in the office for $10 each.

Will you take walk-ins on the night of the event?
Of course.  But buying your tickets in advance really helps the committee with the planning process - we want to have an abundant buffet of hearty appetizers for everyone, and to keep the registration table moving!

Where is this thing again?
This year's event will be in the Woulfe Alumni Hall at the University of Saint Thomas (located on the third floor of the Anderson Student Center at the corner of Summit and Cretin).

I really don't like to hunt for parking.
No worries!  Thanks to a sponsorship from our friends at Signal Garage, we bought out the parking ramp under the Anderson Student Center.  That's 100 free parking spaces in a secured garage, just for us.  There are also several other complimentary parking locations after 6pm on campus on auction night.

And don't forget about the Tiff's bus!  There is still space available on the shuttle - for $10 roundtrip (all of which is donated to Horace Mann!), leave the driving to us. Space is limited and it's filling up quick - contact Angie Rust to sign up. or 651-216-2227.

Can I still donate items, services or sign up to host a Great Gathering?
YES!  Donated items can be dropped off in the office, and visit the Great Gatherings website to submit your event or contact the Great Gatherings team of Karla Lauerman Cummins, Aaron Litzenberg and Karen Vander Sanden by email at with any questions. Please finalize all donations by March 6, and submit all Great Gathering details by March 9 to guarantee listing in the auction catalog.

Other questions?
Contact Auction Committee Co-chairs Allison Broughton at or 651 328-9062 and Amy Hannigan at or 651 206-1402.

We need to fill 55 slots for Great Gatherings -- and we only have 26! These fun social events account for nearly half of the money raised at the auction and are a great way for you and your kids to meet and play with other Horace Mann families and staff. The funds we raise contribute to many of the enrichment activities our students enjoy all year. We have lots of hosting ideas and show you how to do it at the Great Gatherings website, Please visit us now to check the calendar and submit your form. Forms are due: March 9th

Some people have contacted us because they're looking for someone to team up with. If you'd like to pitch in but don't have an idea of your own, consider joining another host. We can connect you both.

If you've never hosted and have questions about GGs like:

  • What should I charge?
  • What age range is appropriate for my event?

Please reach out to Karla Lauerman, Aaron Litzenberg, Karen Vander Sanden at

**In the event of a strike, the Silent and Live Auction will proceed as planned**
