Kari Johnson, a teacher at Washington Technology Magnet School, grew up in a family of educators. Loving mathematics but wanting a different career path than everyone in her family, she became an actuarial scientist, then a construction manager. Though she found those careers to be rewarding, her teaching career both challenges and rewards her. She credits Washington for providing educational opportunities for different types of learners. Many of her students enroll in the College in the Schools (CIS) program, where students can earn college credit in high school.
