MARCH 28, 2017: Superintendent Finalist Orlando Ramos Withdraws Name from Consideration
The Board of Education (BOE) for Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) was notified this afternoon by the search firm that Orlando Ramos, one of the finalists for the superintendent’s role, has decided to withdraw his name.
Mr. Ramos informed the search firm, Ray & Associates, of his decision to remove his name from the list of finalists.
“While his withdrawal is disappointing, we are very confident that we have two strong candidates to be the next superintendent of Saint Paul Public Schools,” said SPPS Board Chairman, Jon Schumacher. “The Board respects Mr. Ramos’ decision and wishes him well.”
The Board will continue with the process for the two remaining candidates.
The other two finalists are slated to visit schools, meet with staff and stakeholders beginning on Wednesday, March 29. The “Meet the Candidates” event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Washington Technology Magnet, 1495 Rice St. in St. Paul.
