Welcome to Special Education in Saint Paul Public Schools!

  • We provide special education and related services according to the federal mandates of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the State of Minnesota's rules and statutes.  Saint Paul Public Schools’ Special Education Department commits to the elimination in the disparity of outcomes for all students with disabilities. We will continue to do this by using data to enhance instructional practices that increase student engagement and achievement.  Our specific focus is African American male scholars, American Indian scholars, and scholars dually qualified for Special Education and English Learner services where the greatest outcome inequities exist.

  • Planning for Employment: My Next Steps

    Friday, May 3rd 6-8:30 pm at Johnson High School

    Students ages 14-21 receiving special education services, and their families, are invited to learn about resources available to help them prepare for employment after high school.

    This event will feature:

    • Panel of self advocates sharing their experiences 
    • Seven presentations to choose from 
    • Resource tables

  • ECSE awarded three grants

    The Birth to Three Program in SPPS was awarded three new grant funded initiatives:

    • Birth to Three and the SRCL Literacy Grant
    • Birth to Three City of St. Paul AmeriCorps Vista
    • Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI)
