Six SPPS educators have been named semifinalists for Education Minnesota’s Teacher of the Year Award. Congratulations to Michael Houston, Molly Keenan, Emily Manson, Carrie Newman, Sorcha Nix and Fathimath Rasheed! Out of the 44 semifinalists, a group of 10-12 finalists will be selected later this month. The 2023 Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced on May 7 at Saint Paul RiverCentre.
Students at Jie Ming Mandarin Immersion Academy and Phalen Lake Elementary recently received a special book delivery from the Very Asian Foundation (VAF). The project helps schools and libraries build and maintain robust Asian American youth literature collections.
SPPS School Counselors recently joined other counselors across the state for Day on the Hill. They used this time to speak with representatives and advocate for upcoming legislation that would increase funding for student support services staff.
